Welcome to one of the oldest but most active Art Societies in Melbourne!

Ferntree Gully Arts Society Inc:   Over the years the Ferntree Gully Arts Society has fostered and encouraged many fine artists and is proud to continue this tradition through our many activities at The Hut Gallery.

We run untutored workshops and also provide skilled tuition in a range of mediums from artists who hire our studio space.

New members and beginners of all ages are most welcome. Come along, try a free workshop of your choice and meet some of our friendly members

The Arts Society has a comprehensive Collection of works purchased over the years since it began back in 1944.

We are open from February to mid-December for exhibitions, workshops and classes.

FERNTREE GULLY ARTS SOCIETY

The Ferntree Gully Arts Society had its beginnings in 1944 with a letter sent by local potter, Allan Lowe, to the Secretary of the Ferntree Gully Shire, suggesting that an Art Exhibition be held to “develop the cultural and appreciative level of our residents and (the money raised) donated to the Red Cross to aid fighting men”.

THE HUT GALLERY

The Hut consists of several spaces including two exhibition areas and a sculpture garden which are available for hire by both members and non-members (at the discretion of the Committee).

Generally all gallery, foyer, sculpture garden or studio hire applications need to be submitted by early September for the following year, however we encourage you to apply at any time, as cancellations do occur.

Exhibitions

Exhibitions change each month and run from February to December. You can view exhibitions between 11am and 4pm on weekends. Members who man the gallery generally work on their own art and this is a wonderful opportunity to ask questions and check out an artist’s process.

Note that we are mindful of any changes as regards the Covid-19 situation and will alter our program in line with government guidelines.
